Brussels : New communication campaign to invite motorists to go to the city centre

25/08/2016

Interparking is launching a communication campaign to invite motorists to go to the city centre. The car parks near the pedestrian zone are there to accommodate them.

The new Brussels traffic plan, and in particular the pedestrian zone in the city centre, took effect a little over a year ago.

Since then, the car parks in the city centre appear to be collateral victims, undoubtedly due to erroneous information or information misunderstood by the general public. Some visitors in fact seem convinced that the car parks in the centre of Brussels are no longer accessible to vehicles. The result is a 20% to 50% drop in business from their usual traffic.

However, Interparking remains convinced of the strong points of the Brussels city centre. In addition, the car parks have a role to play in ‘irrigating’ the centre. Without the car parks, the drought that would threaten businesses inside the Pentagon area could not be avoided.

Consequently, a new awareness campaign has been launched this Wednesday 24 August in order to adopt a new approach and convince motorists to continue to do their shopping in the city centre.

Interparking is strengthening its presence in the area with the distribution of 100,000 flyers near strategic traffic lights in the capital by hostesses dressed in a special “pedestrian” uniform. The campaign is also being conducted on Facebook.

All the awareness activities underway refer to the website parkingpietonnier.be, which offers an access map to the various car parks in the Brussels city centre. The shopping areas of the Pentagon are also featured.

With this campaign, Interparking aims to provide motorists with clear, useful and reassuring information on the accessibility of the car parks in the city centre.
